The above photograph by our client, Paul Mahler, is actually eight photos stitched together. The photos were taken in the Solu Khumbu valley in Nepal on April 22, 1998. Paul had flown from Kathmandu to a small airstrip at Lukla, then trekked seven days to get where this photo was taken. He was standing on top of Nangkartshang Peak (5,099m), looking southeast towards Ama Dablam (6,812m).
Nangkartshang Peak is the southernmost peak on the highest mountain ridge in the world. If you keep climbing up the ridge behind him, you will end up on the top of Mt. Everest. The arrow on the map below indicates the direction of the photo.
